About The Music
All music © Ian Cullen
It’s no secret that music does something extraordinary to us. It’s a powerful tool able to stir emotion, generate a thought or memory, cloak us in comfort or fear. I’ve loved writing music for theatre performances. I treat it like a film soundtrack (and yes, I would love to write a film soundtrack!), taking video of rehearsals then writing to picture. I love soundscapes. I love melodies. I love the in-between silence. Stylistically I try not to overtly signpost, I want to get inside the emotion and present it in a way only music can. Sometimes with simplicity, sometimes with surprises. From giant washes of sound, to intricate, intimate notes. Interpreting not interfering. I love working as part of a total creative team to deliver on a vision, and hopefully delivering long-lasting memories for audiences. Thanks for taking the time to listen to the music. Ian x
